Hey guys! I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving weekend. I just wanted to make a quick blog post to share about our Thanksgiving with you.
I'm not gonna lie, I'm more of a Christmas kinda girl. My oldest was born the day after Christmas and ever since, Christmas has meant so much more. The whole holiday seasons really builds up to her birthday and I just love it. With that being said, I do think that Thanksgiving is such a good opportunity to be thankful for all of our blessings without the distraction of presents that Christmas brings. Thanksgiving is just about family, togetherness and appreciating one another. That's what I love about this holiday.
I have so much to be thankful for and something that I really want to instill in my girls at an early age is to be grateful. To live in the moment. To not compare their lives with others. To be humble. To be present. And to appreciate the little things. If you've been following along with me on Instagram, you may have noticed that I didn't post anything on Thanksgiving or this past weekend. That's because I've really been making an effort to be more present for my girls and for my family. I don't want to be glued to my phone all day, missing out on what's really important- this quality time.
We spent our Thanksgiving at my grandparents' house in Santa Rosa. It's about a 2 hour drive from where we live in Elk Grove. The drive was nice, not too much traffic and the girls did well (mostly because I packed lots of snacks). We got there late in usual Mahliya fashion- sorry Grandma. We had such a great time catching up with my grandparents and the rest of the family. I hadn't seen my grandparents since the fires in Santa Rosa and it was just so good to see their faces. They weren't affected by the fire but we were very worried with it being so close by. My grandma is an amazing cook and I always look forward to her food, especially her apple pie. Everything was delicious, I'm getting hungry just thinking about all the food. It was also really fun seeing my stepsister bond with Maia. Maia sat in my mom's old high chair which just gave me all the feels. Ava ran around the house playing with her cousins and my sister. It was perfect. We did bring my camera so we got a couple of shots and without further ado, here they are:
